***** Vesicular Stomatitis Update *****
POA members and open show participants -- If you plan to attend our Aug. 24 POA futurity show and/or the Aug. 25 open show at Boulder County Fairgrounds, we appreciate your help in preventing the spread of VS.
We will have vet checks each morning before the shows, or you'll need to bring a health certificate for your horse that was issued within the previous 72 hours.
1) Vet checks will be on Sat. and Sun. morning from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. as you arrive at the fairgrounds. Cost is $5 per pony/horse. Cash only.
(POA members -- If your pony is checked for the futurity show on Sat., you will not need to be checked before the open show on Sun.)
2) If you will be arriving at the fairgrounds later in the day, after the vet check has ended, you must have a health certificate from your vet issued within the previous 72 hours with the following statements: "I have examined the animal(s) represented on this certificate of veterinary inspection and have found no clinical signs of vesicular stomatitis, and they have not originated from a premises under quarantine for vesicular stomatitis."
The vet checks will be early on Sat. and Sun., from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. The shows start at 8:30 a.m. each day. If you're not a morning person, or if you'll be coming for classes later in the day and don't want to arrive early for a vet check, please make arrangements to get a health certificate from your own vet before the weekend. Thank you in advance for your help in preventing the spread of VS.
The shows are in the indoor arena a Boulder County Fairgrounds. Please enter the fairgrounds off of Nelson Road, near the Longmont Humane Society building.
Also, once you're at the show, please take the extra precautions of not sharing water buckets, grooming tools, etc.
